Passing your driving theory test is the first step towards getting your UK driving licence, and when you feel ready, you will be keen to book your theory test. Booking your theory test appointment is easy to do online at Gov.uk, and all you need is your provisional driving licence number, the name of the test centre where you want to take your theory test, an email address, and a credit or debit card to pay the £23 fee.
If you’ve made your theory test online booking and then need to change theory date this can be done easily, as long as you give three working days notice (Monday to Saturday count as working days, but not Sundays and public holidays). In this article, we’re going to look at how to change your theory test appointment.
There are various reasons you may need to change your theory test to a new date, such as illness or a work commitment. You can reschedule your driving theory test appointment within three working days, or you will have to pay your fee again. Avoid losing your fee by changing your test within this time frame.
If you need to change your theory test at short notice, you can get a refund on your test fee if you have an illness or injury that means you’re unable to take your test, had your provisional driving licence stolen, or suffered a bereavement. To receive a full refund, you will need to email the DVSA (Driver and Vehicles Standard Agency) with the subject title ‘Unavoidable short notice cancellation’, and attach proof of the reason you’ve had to change your appointment. Further details on how to do this can be found here.
