Pass Plus: Everything You Need To Know

Pass Plus Everything You Need To Know

Passing your practical driving test is one of the most exciting moments of a young person’s life. There’s nothing like the freedom of finally being behind the wheel after hours of practice and determination.

Although you’ll probably feel like you’re ready to drive at every opportunity, it’s not unusual to feel apprehensive on certain roads. Motorway driving, for example, can be daunting for new drivers.

That’s why Totally Driving is pleased to offer a Pass Plus course. But, if you’ve just passed your test you’re probably wondering – what exactly is pass plus and why would I need it?

In this month’s article, we explain what pass plus is and the many benefits of completing the course.

What is Pass Plus?

We like to think of pass plus as the next level of driving. A way to improve your skills and confidence after you pass your driving test.

The content of the course may vary depending on your driving school, but usually, it is structured in 6 modules, including:

  • motorway driving
  • city centre/town driving
  • country lane driving
  • night driving
  • all weather driving
  • dual carriageway driving

There isn’t a test at the end of the course but you will gain some useful skills in learning to drive in different areas and road conditions. You will also receive a pass plus certificate after completion.

Is a Pass Plus worth it?

A benefit of pass plus could be insurance discounts. Some car insurance companies offer discounts to drivers who have completed this course, but not all.

However, it will improve your road skills and you may then feel confident enough to have a black box fitted in your car. This keeps track of how well you’re driving, which reports back to your insurance company. The better you drive, the less you pay on your insurance policy. It’s worth speaking directly to your insurance company to find out more.

How much does Pass Plus cost?

The cost of the pass plus course depends on your driving instructor, but typically it can be between £175 – £275.
